FREDERICK, Md.—The student belly dance club at Hood College is holding its fourth annual charity fundraiser Feb. 11.
The Hips for Hearts hafla (dance show) will begin at 7 p.m. in Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall. All proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative.
The show will feature the student troupe at Hood as well as dance troupes and soloists from Frederick and the surrounding area, including solos from several headlining artists from Frederick, D.C. and Baltimore. The show includes both cabaret and American tribal styles, and performers often use zills (finger cymbals), swords, poi or veils in their performances.
Admission is free and open to the public; however, a small donation at the door for the charity is encouraged. People can drop in for all or part of the show. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
