FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College was once again ranked as one of the country's best and most affordable colleges by a national news magazine.
Hood ranked third among more than 160 regional schools in the "Great Schools, Great Prices" in the Universities-Master's category of the U.S. News & World Report's 2009 edition of America's Best Colleges, which was released Aug. 22. Hood is also in the top tier and the top 25 percent in the "Best Universities-Master's" category, among the schools in the northern region.
Hood has consistently scored high in the 23 years the magazine has been publishing the rankings. The annual rankings of more than 1,400 colleges and universities in the U.S. take into consideration dozens of factors, including academic quality, student retention rates, resources available to faculty, graduation rates, alumni giving rates, student quality, reputation among peer schools and financial resources.
