Dance ensemble, guests to present fall concerts

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College Dance Ensemble will perform its fall concerts Nov. 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall at Hood College.
The performances, which are free and open to the public, will feature student and guest artists and guest performers.
Choreographers include Hood students Samantha Gertner, April Hoffman, Lauren Miller and Stephanie Weaver; former ensemble members Ashley Bryan Rippeon and Lauren Proctor; and Francine Marsili, director of dance and artistic director of the ensemble. Guest performers include former dance ensemble captain Malley Hester and award-winning Irish dancer Casey Duffy. The program will include a pointe and modern fusion number to Martha Wainwright's "Wither Must I Wander," created by Gertner; a tap dance to Carlos Santana's "Migra," choreographed by Hoffman, dance ensemble captain; a contemporary ballet to a techno-remix of Mozart's "Moonlight," composed by Miller; a lyrical piece to Ron Pope's "A Drop in the Ocean" by Weaver; a lyrical modern piece to Mat Kearneyýs "Closer To Love," choreographed by Proctor; and a jazz dance to Rob Thomas' "This is How a Heart Breaks," created by Marsili.
