HOOD CONVOCATION: Hodson Outdoor Theatre was the location for the 114th Convocation ceremony. Keeping with tradition, all new students recited the Hood Honor Code Pledge and seniors participated in the candle lighting ceremony that marks the beginning of their senior year at Hood. This symbolic light will be passed to the rising senior class president of 2008 at the baccalaureate service in the spring. |
KUDOS: Congratulations to to Christina M. Trenton-Mooneyhan '97 for becoming the first woman president of the Hagerstown Rotary in Hagerstown, Md., and perhaps the youngest at the age of 31. As one of the largest and oldest clubs in the region, Christina plans to continue the good works started by her predecessors. Christina is the executive director of W House, a halfway and transitional house for women with addictions. Congratulations, Christina! |
CHARLES J. WARNER (1920-2006): We regret to inform you that on Aug. 13, 2006 Charles Warner, associate professor emeritus of music, died in Tucson, Ariz. He is survived by his wife, Jean-Marie Stillwell Warner '77, M.S. '81, four children and several grandchildren. Professor Warner began teaching at Hood in 1959 and retired in 1986. He taught music history and was the director of the Hood College Choir. He also served as music director at Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick. He and his family moved to Tucson in 1997, where he was active in the Casas Adobes Congregational Church and assisted in founding the Casas Adobes Fine Arts Academy. |

"PHOTO TRIPPING: A VISUAL JOURNAL" EXHIBIT DISPLAYED IN HODSON: Marshall Dupuie, a distinguished photographer, will showcase an array of images at Hood College from Thursday, Aug. 31 to Sunday, Oct. 1 in the Hodson Gallery of the Tatem Arts Center.
